What happens if a dog eats garlic sprouts?

Eating garlic sprouts can trigger symptoms of hemolytic-anemia poisoning in dogs, such as vomiting, diarrhea, blood in the urine, reduced appetite, lethargy, and drowsiness. Like onions, garlic sprouts contain disulfide compounds that oxidize the hemoglobin in a dog’s red blood cells, producing Heinz bodies and causing the red cells to rupture, which leads to hemolytic anemia.

However, if only a small amount was consumed, the dog may not show any discomfort. The owner can observe patiently for a day; if any abnormality appears, take the dog to a veterinary clinic promptly.
