What is a dog’s bone structure like?

A dog has a total of 225–230 bones, which can be simply divided into the skull, trunk bones, and limb bones. The skull includes the frontal, parietal, occipital, zygomatic arch, nasal, and incisive bones. The trunk bones include the cervical vertebrae (7 of them), scapula, sternum, lumbar vertebrae, ilium, and femur; the limb bones include the phalanges, metacarpals, carpals, ulna, patella, and metatarsals, and there are many small joint bones where the various parts connect.
