How long does it take a dog to recover after eye removal?

A dog generally needs about two months to fully recover after eye removal. Usually, the eye bandage is changed 2-3 days after surgery, and the stitches on the eyelid are removed around day 7, with the gauze taken out of the eye socket.

After that, the owner needs to apply antibiotic ointment regularly, give the dog systemic antibiotics or corticosteroids for a period, and take it for periodic checkups. Generally, the dog fully recovers about two months after surgery.
