Why does my cat always tear up and have eye discharge?

Constant tearing and eye discharge may come from heat, blocked nasolacrimal ducts or liver disease. Some breeds with hereditary short tear ducts, like Persians, tear easily – clean their faces regularly with cat-specific solution. Long-term salty food causing heat also triggers it; switch to a suitable cat food.
