Why Do Grapes Kill Dogs?

Certain substances in grapes damage a dog’s kidneys, causing acute kidney failure and eventually death. So never feed grapes, and no food with grape content either. If a dog eats grapes by mistake, take it to a vet quickly for induced vomiting and detox. A large dog that ate a small amount may show no clear signs, but the risk remains.
