A thirsty Bichon puppy becomes restless, paces or barks at the owner. It may lick its lips to wet its mouth and ease thirst.

Severe lack of water causes constant panting, loose skin and pale mucous membranes. Provide ample water daily and carry some on walks to prevent heatstroke from dehydration.
