The hill myna (Gracula religiosa) is a close relative of the crested myna. Its song is loud, melodious and rich in tune, and it mimics other birds well; with training it can imitate human speech and learn simple songs, making it a popular talking-bird pet.

The Oscar (Astronotus ocellatus) is a large, personable cichlid from the Amazon basin that can learn to recognize its owner and even leap for food from the hand. A voracious carnivorous predator — it will fight or eat tankmates — it needs a big tank and, despite its thuggish nature, is one of the most interactive tropical fish you can keep. It can live 10 years or more.

The Burmese Big-headed Turtle (Platysternon megacephalum) is a subspecies of the beaked turtle found mainly in Myanmar and Vietnam, an aggressive carnivore that adapts fairly well to captivity. It mates in autumn and lays eggs from early summer, but its fierce temperament demands careful handling.
East African Black Mud Turtle
The East African Black Mud Turtle is scarce in the wild and thus rarely kept in captivity; in China it is uncommon, though other side-neck species are seen more often, indicating its rarity and need for protection. It eats both plants and animals, living in shallow water and occasionally climbing onto land.

The Adanson's Mud Turtle is a small, seldom-seen aquatic turtle from central Africa, a minor member of the African side-neck genus. Although not internationally listed as endangered, it is rarely traded.

The Travancore Tortoise (Indotestudo travancorica) closely resembles the Burmese Star Tortoise in appearance and shares its preference for a dry habitat. Though sometimes considered a subspecies of the Burmese tortoise, this has never been confirmed; it is a shy, inactive tortoise suited to simple husbandry.
