Raising Rabbits Is Not Hard, but Note These Points

📝 Summary

Pet rabbits are calm and gentle, fairly easy to keep, but their bodies are fragile. Beyond diet and housing, some points matter. Here they are.

1 Overview

1. A comfortable cage.

Rabbits suit cages, not free range. They are gentle but those teeth are no joke; chewing furniture or wires harms the rabbit’s safety. So cage it, with a smooth cage and padding under the wire to avoid cuts, and enough space, not crowded.

2. Clean the home often.

Many parents oppose rabbits as smelly, but rabbits are clean; the smell is the droppings, from lazy cleaning. Clean the cage to avoid odor and bacteria and illness.

3. Enough water.

Rabbits can and must drink daily, and the water must be clean. Diarrhea after drinking means dirty or too much water; never tap water – use cooled boiled. Do not think veggies replace water; too many veggies cause diarrhea, especially in summer – always provide water.

4. Do not bathe at will.

Rabbits need rare baths – once a month or longer. They self-clean and fear water; wrong bath temperature stresses them, and undried fur causes colds. So bathe only if needed.

Our share ends; we hope rabbit owners note the above.
