My two-month-old kitten got its first vaccine on the 15th, then had two episodes of coughing or labored breathing; since then it eats very little and threw up yellow liquid once. What is wrong?

After vaccination a kitten’s resistance drops because the vaccine is a modified live virus that stimulates antibody production, which takes time, so mild stress reactions in the first 1-2 days such as lethargy, low appetite, drowsiness and slight vomiting or diarrhea are normal; do not force-feed, and its appetite will return. If the kitten only has poor appetite, give a stomach-motility supplement and some probiotics to aid digestion and improve appetite. Observe for two or three days; if it still refuses food after a week, take it to a vet to rule out other illnesses.
