A Czechoslovakian wolfdog puppy typically costs about 10,000 to 15,000 yuan, with better-looking individuals priced higher; a purebred Czechoslovakian wolfdog may cost around 100,000 yuan, though it is hard to find a truly pure one in China. The breed was originally created by crossing wolves and dogs and carries half wolf blood.

Early bred wolfdogs were unstable in lineage and temperament and could attack humans if they went into a frenzy; combined with great strength and speed, they posed a threat to human safety, so the Czechoslovakian wolfdog is listed as a banned breed in cities. After selective breeding, however, many have stable temperaments and strong working ability and are often used as military dogs.
