Fed correctly, shrimp has almost no harm, but wrong feeding causes five reactions:

Seasoned shrimp (crayfish, peppered, flavored) with spices and oil upset cats with weak pancreas or gut — boil shrimp plain.

Shells, heads and tails can choke or block the esophagus — peel before feeding.

The intestinal vein may hold heavy metals, bacteria and grit; remove it (the belly’s black line is muscle, not needed).

Raw shrimp risks E. coli, Salmonella, Listeria and parasites.

Some cats are allergic — first time, give half a shrimp or a small bite.
