A dog’s testicles suddenly becoming raw and ulcerated is generally caused by orchitis or scrotal dermatitis. Owners should check carefully; if it is only damage and ulceration of the scrotal skin surface, it is usually scrotal dermatitis, with possible causes including bacterial infection, fungal infection, or other pathogens.

To prevent the dog from licking the area and worsening the infection, fit it with an Elizabethan collar first. If a vet visit is not convenient right away, you can rinse the testicles with saline solution or a 3% alum solution, then apply a layer of antibiotic ointment on the surface and give an appropriate dose of pet-specific antibiotics by mouth. Observe for 3–5 days; if the dog’s condition keeps worsening, take it to a veterinary clinic for diagnosis and treatment promptly.
