Signs a Teddy Bear Hamster Is Angry

1. Because teddy bear hamsters are larger, they need more space. Without a big enough cage, living cramped makes them irritable – even cage-biting, trying to escape. A too-narrow space makes them feel unsafe, and poor cage ventilation harms health.

2. If the hamster flips over and screams, it is very angry – usually when food is stolen or it is startled. Then keep away and let it calm down. Never touch an angry hamster, or it may bite; when angry it is more sensitive and sees any approach as danger.

3. Some hamsters, when very angry, stand up and swipe forward with front paws – funny-looking, but don’t provoke it then; its aggression is strong. If it keeps fussing, try its favorite food to soothe it, but don’t hand-feed – put food in the bowl.

4. Some gentle hamsters won’t fuss when angry but ignore the owner, refuse touch, reject any coaxing – the ‘cold shoulder.’ This rarely soothes; just meet its needs with more food and water, and play more after it calms.
