When a Teddy gets hot it usually sleeps in a cool, shady place and is prone to reduced appetite and listlessness. In particularly hot weather, a Teddy generally opens its mouth and sticks out its tongue to breathe, because dogs have few sweat glands and very dense fur, so they dissipate heat mainly through respiration.

When a Teddy pants with its mouth open, water in its body is lost more quickly. If the dog cannot replenish water for a long time, it can easily develop mild dehydration or heatstroke.
