What are the symptoms of feline panleukopenia (cat distemper)?

The symptoms of cat distemper (panleukopenia) mainly include abdominal pain, lethargy, bloody stool, diarrhea, fever and vomiting. The most acute viral infection is usually accompanied by intestinal damage and leukopenia, and the cat often dies within 24 hours of onset. Typical signs of acute infection are dehydration, vomiting, abdominal pain and bloody stool. Infection is preliminarily diagnosed from clinical signs, history and typical presentation, but definitive diagnosis requires a PCR test.
