Why shouldn’t you keep an all-black dog?
Expert Answer
An all-black dog can be raised just like any other dog. The belief that black dogs should not be kept is a folk superstition about the color and is not scientific.
Caring for a black dog is no different from caring for dogs of other colors — the only difference is the coat color. There are many black dog breeds, with common ones including the black Labrador and the black Poodle, and plenty of people keep such dogs, so there is no need to worry about coat color.
However, some large all-black dogs are aggressive and are banned in cities, such as the Cane Corso and the Tibetan Mastiff.
