Why can’t dogs eat persimmons?

A small amount of ripe persimmon is generally fine and gives vitamins and minerals. But persimmons contain alkaloids and atropine that in large amounts cause harm.

Large amounts can cause diarrhea, sleepiness, drooling, breathing trouble, abdominal pain, vomiting, and twitching, so feed only a little and only ripe persimmons.
