What Happens If a Cat Is Not Given External Parasite Control?

Without external parasite control, a cat can easily become infested with fleas, ticks, lice and mites, which cause itching, bumps, hair loss and skin sores, and may lead to secondary bacterial or fungal infections and serious skin disease.

A severe parasite infestation can cause anemia, weight loss, lethargy and loss of appetite. It is generally recommended to apply external parasite prevention once a month, or every two months for senior cats.
