Rabbits can eat apples, bananas, oranges, pears, coconut, strawberries, melon, pineapple, cherries and other fruits. Fruits are rich in vitamins and water, and feeding them in moderation supplements the rabbit’s nutrition. However, control the amount carefully: fruit should never exceed about 10% of the total diet, otherwise excess moisture can cause diarrhea or gastroenteritis. Also remove the pits and peels before feeding, because the pits contain cyanides that can poison the rabbit if eaten in excess.
