What do turtles eat?

Turtles are omnivores, so they can eat many kinds of food. Pet turtles can be fed fresh small fish, shrimp, or earthworms; meat supplies protein and calcium that young turtles need to grow.

You can also give turtles a little chicken or beef, but avoid pork because its high fat adds metabolic burden. Turtles also like vegetables and fruit, which provide vitamins and fiber in moderation.
