What are the benefits of docking a Corgi’s tail?

The main benefit of docking a Corgi’s tail is hygiene – the large, long-haired tail catches feces, and without prompt cleaning, bacteria build up and cause skin disease. But most owners dock purely for looks: the round, muscular hindquarters and short legs make the wiggling walk adorable. Docking is a cruel surgery, though, so it’s generally not recommended.
