📝 Summary

First-time Teddy owners often feel lost. This guide shares six care points—bath frequency, leashing, calcium, vaccines and deworming, house-training, and diet for coat color.

1 Six Care Tips for a Teddy (Poodle)

1. Control bath frequency

Teddies have little odor and barely shed. In summer bathe weekly; in winter monthly. Dry the coat thoroughly after to prevent colds, then brush and trim nails—grooming makes them look adorable.

2. Walk properly

Teddies are small—keep the leash tight outdoors so they don’t dart off and get hurt. Watch them closely during heat to avoid awkward behavior.

3. Supplement calcium

Teddies have small frames and fracture easily; prevent jumps from heights and long standing to protect the spine. Add calcium for stronger bones.

4. Vaccinate and deworm

Start deworming around 2 months: monthly internal and external until 6 months, then external monthly and internal every 3 months. Don’t deworm and vaccinate at the same time—vaccinate first, then deworm. Usually a 4- or 6-way vaccine: three shots 21 days apart, then rabies a week later, and an annual booster.

5. House-train

Teaching a fixed potty spot saves half the trouble. Start young: when the dog signals, take it to the spot; reward with a treat for correct eliminations, repeating until it’s a habit.

6. Feed correctly

Teddies fade in coat color, so avoid salty food, which causes tear stains, rough coat, fading and shedding. Use a high-quality kibble; one with kelp powder helps lock in color and add shine.
