The Zebra Finch, also known as the Pearl bird, is small and exquisite with a charming appearance and a soft, gentle call; its looks are as appealing as its name, and its plumage resembles the color of pearls. China imported it from Australia in the 1970s and 1980s, and has since bred varieties such as camel, white, and pied.

Although not yet very common in captivity, in the wild it is a widespread lorikeet with a global population exceeding 100,000, and is one of the cheapest lorikeets in Australia and New Zealand.

The Port Lincoln Parrot has three subspecies in total. Owing to its wide distribution, its habitat is equally varied; it is mainly active in open eucalyptus woodland, shrubland, farmland and orchards, coastal areas, desert regions, suburbs, and parks. Populations in northern Australia undertake seasonal migrations.
