How does a hamster get wet tail?

Wet tail is a common hamster disease, usually from these factors. Living in too-humid an environment keeps the tail damp and breeds bacteria, causing wet tail.

Dirty drinking water or food that causes diarrhea also leads to wet tail. Hamsters dig in bedding, and if it is not changed regularly, humidity rises and causes the disease.
