What happens if a hamster is hit?

A hit hamster may show skin damage, hair loss, broken toes or tail, torn ears, or other injuries. The pain can cause low spirits and poor appetite, leading to weight loss.

Timid hamsters are very sensitive; a sudden hit or scare can make them anxious and tense, hurting appetite and causing abnormal hyperactivity or withdrawal.

In severe cases they may enter pseudohibernation, endangering their life.
