Cats in the north rarely get ringworm because the climate is dry, while the south is humid and hot; a cat in a dry environment almost never gets ringworm. But in a humid, stuffy environment the risk rises sharply, and infected cats show red, fur-losing skin.

This is especially true for young cats: some southern owners buy a kitten from a northern breeder and it gets ringworm within days of arriving home. Keep the home clean and dry and let the cat sunbathe often. If a cat does get ringworm, use a vet-recommended antifungal spray and ketoconazole cream to treat it effectively.
