Vaccine Precautions for Cats and Dogs
π Summary
Cat and dog vaccine precautions: healthy, settled pets only, licensed vets, titer-guided boosters, one-week post-vaccine rest, and mandatory yearly rabies shots.
1 Before and During Vaccination
Only healthy animals get vaccines. A newly bought pet should settle at home seven to ten days first, because the stress of a new place lowers resistance and a hidden virus could be activated by the shot. Use a proper veterinary clinic, since untrained handlers often store and use vaccines wrongly, killing their effect. Two weeks after the full series, test antibody titer; if below 4, revaccinate per vet advice.
2 Aftercare and Boosters
For annual boosters, test titer first; if it is 4 or above, skip the shot to cut reaction risk. For one week after any vaccine, keep the pet home, do not bathe, and limit stress so immunity builds well. Note: by law, the rabies vaccine is given every year, without exception.
