Rare in species, mostly spherical, with a thin and brittle shell. The shell surface is plain and translucent. The operculum is thin, horny, and very small, not covering the wide shell mouth. Abundant in tropical soft-coral reef communities, with a few distributed on the deep-sea bottom.
