The bobcat is not suitable to keep mainly because of temperament. Although it is physically strong, resistant to disease and not prone to illness, its character is rather irritable, it is not affectionate, is quite aggressive and gets angry easily, so keeping one easily leads to accidental injury.

Also, the bobcat does not suit being confined at home; it prefers a free, natural environment, and its hind legs are much longer than its front legs with strong jumping ability, so if it runs away it is hard to catch. Finally, the bobcat’s lifespan is not very long, generally only about 8 years.
