Why is my puppy vomiting, listless, and refusing food?

If a puppy is vomiting, listless, and refusing food, take it to a veterinary hospital promptly. This may be a digestive blockage from swallowing a foreign object, so an abdominal X-ray is advised to check for obstruction.

If obstruction is confirmed, assess its severity and treat accordingly. Mild cases can be eased with oral laxatives; severe cases may need surgery.

Also, parvovirus or distemper can cause these same symptoms, so a timely vet visit is best.
