Why Does Your Rabbit Keep Sneezing?

1. Allergies

Pollen, bedding dust, scented wood shavings, and perfumes irritate keen rabbit noses. Remove the trigger and move to fresh air.

2. Rhinitis

White or yellow pus discharge means rhinitis – usually a cold left untreated into chronic or purulent rhinitis. Clean nostrils with warm wet gauze; inject penicillin and streptomycin, 200k units each, twice daily for 3-5 days; also wipe the nostrils.

3. Cold

Clear discharge with tearing is a cold. Give a little pediatric cold medicine and warm water; see a vet if no improvement.

4. Choking

Powdery pellets or a badly placed water bottle cause choking and sneezing. Sift powder, fix the bottle, or use a rabbit bottle.

Brief sneezing is often just irritation – check for smells and move the rabbit away.
