Causes of white stool
1. Indigestion: From overfeeding—goldfish eat whatever is given and can be stuffed, causing reduced appetite and white stool.
Fix: Stop feeding, raise temperature to about 26°C, increase water changes to boost metabolism, and add probiotics; it recovers soon.
2. Enteritis: White or clear, very long stringy stool suggests enteritis, usually from dirty food or bacteria. Sick fish refuse food, slow down, look dull; act promptly.
Fix: Change water at once, run the filter, keep water clean, and add furancillin or oxytetracycline for a bath. Severe cases need oral furazolidone or similar, or intramuscular penicillin/gentamicin if it won’t eat.
