1. Prey drive. Even domesticated cats keep hunting instincts. When bored, a moving foot looks like prey, and the constant motion triggers the kitten’s hunting response. Kittens aged 2–5 months are at the peak of ‘practice hunting,’ so they may bite you or other cats while playing — train early to avoid a biting habit. Give the cat toys to redirect its attention.

3. Daily interaction. Spend about 15 minutes a day playing to bond and burn off excess energy, preventing boredom or the feeling of being ignored.

4. Correct promptly. The moment it pounces, warn it or ignore it; it will learn the behavior gets no reward and stop.
