When does a lorikeet’s beak turn red?

A lorikeet’s beak starts turning red after about 3 months and becomes bright solid red after 10 months. If the beak turns from red to black, the bird has entered old age. Unlike grain-eating parrots, lorikeets mainly eat nectar, pollen and fruit, and their beaks are longer than many parrots’, with brush-like tongue bristles to reach deep into flowers for food.
