What should I do if my cat vomits?

A cat throwing up may be caused by hairballs, indigestion, gastrointestinal inflammation, pancreatic inflammation, parasite infection, or feline distemper (panleukopenia). If the vomiting is not frequent, you can first give it some probiotics to support its gut.

Watch the vomit; if it contains debris or hair, give the cat some hairball paste and keep observing. During this time pay attention to its diet — do not feed snacks or canned food yet; instead give small, frequent meals of cat food softened with warm water to avoid overloading the stomach. If vomiting happens often, take the cat to a vet to find the exact cause and treat it accordingly.
