What happens if a dog gets extremely hungry?

An extremely hungry dog faces serious physical and mental stress, showing weakness, unsteady gait, unwillingness to move, anxiety, chewing on objects, drowsiness, or even coma. A very hungry dog shows intense desire for food and may get overly excited at the sight or smell of it, even snatching food. Once it gets food, eating a large amount may trigger acute gastroenteritis, with diarrhea, bloating, vomiting, and abdominal pain. Long-term starvation not only harms short-term health but can also cause malnutrition, lowered immunity, organ failure, and reduced fertility, and in severe cases can be life-threatening.
