What happens if a dog eats Saimeian Powder? Will it die?

Saimeian Powder is a topical Chinese herbal medicine whose main ingredients are gypsum, borneol, cinnabar, and licorice, with heat-clearing and detoxifying effects. Cinnabar and borneol are somewhat toxic; if a dog eats it by mistake it may show abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting, but a small amount usually won’t be fatal.

Therefore, if the dog only ingested a little, give it more water and watch closely. But if it ate a large amount at once, or shows adverse reactions after ingestion, seek veterinary care promptly.
