High temperature causes lethargy, poor appetite, dry nose, drowsiness and red outer ears, and in severe cases the cat cowers and may breathe with an open mouth. Normal is 38 to 39.2; 39.2 to 39.5 is low fever treatable at home with cooling.
Over 39.5 is high fever needing a vet. Fever usually comes from bacterial, viral or other inflammatory infection needing diagnosis and treatment.
