What happens if a cat eats sleeping pills?

If a cat accidentally eats sleeping pills, the following may happen. First, sleeping pills mainly sedate and aid sleep; after eating them the cat may show obvious drowsiness, lethargy, slow movement, and slow reactions, and in severe cases may fall into deep coma.

Second, if the cat eats an overdose, it may show breathing difficulty, paused breathing, bradycardia, low blood pressure, nystagmus, and seizures. Finally, long-term or heavy intake of sleeping pills may damage the cat’s liver and kidneys, affecting normal function and even causing death.
