Tarantulas mainly eat insects such as ants, moths, spiders, and mosquitoes, catching small insects strongly with sticky webs. While hunting, they stab prey with the venom spine on the tail, then swallow it with the chelicerae and mouthparts.
Their digestion is slow, so once enough prey is stored they stop hunting.
