What are the symptoms of a sick cat?

A sick cat usually shows reduced appetite, low spirits, less activity, unstable mood, irritability, a dry nose, messy coat and dull eyes; in some cases it also shows clear signs like raised or lowered temperature, runny nose, sneezing, coughing, vomiting, diarrhea or blood in the stool.

If a cat has a more serious disease such as FIP, it may also refuse food, lose weight rapidly, have seizures or go into shock. If you notice these signs, take the cat to a vet promptly; never give medication blindly, to avoid worsening the condition through wrong dosing.
