Merle French Bulldogs are a very rare variety with a high price, and their temperament is as gentle and friendly as that of ordinary French Bulldogs. However, the merle gene itself carries chromosomal defects, so they commonly suffer congenital hair loss, blindness, and deafness.

Once these conditions appear they are hard to control, and the age of onset can’t be predicted. So if you’re considering keeping a merle Frenchie, have it checked at a veterinary hospital regularly and be prepared for the possibility that it may pass away at any time.
