A new kitten does not necessarily need to be crated. Whether crating is needed depends on the situation. If you brought home a stray that hasn’t been dewormed, keep it crated for 3 days after internal and external deworming; if you have other cats, isolate it until it finishes vaccinations.

If the kitten is already dewormed and tested virus-free, crating isn’t needed—letting it out helps it adapt faster. But if the kitten is very agitated and keeps trying to run away, crate it for a while first.
