A cat that sneezes frequently and then suddenly twitches as if having a seizure may be suffering from a respiratory infection or strong nasal irritation.

Common respiratory infections include feline herpesvirus, calicivirus, chlamydia, and mycoplasma. Nasal tumors, sinusitis, chemical irritation, and dust allergies can also cause nasal itching and sneezing.

Seek a detailed exam at the clinic, including PCR screening for respiratory infections, rhinoscopy, X-rays, or CT. If a clinic visit is impossible, give symptomatic care: keep the cat in a well-ventilated area and use saline and antibiotic injections for nebulization to moisten the nose and airways.
