It is a captive-bred variant of the Three-lined hamster, with a coat and dorsal stripe lighter than the Three-lined hamster; its fur is gray and shows a faint bluish-purple sheen in sunlight, very beautiful, and its dorsal stripe is not obvious. It inherits the gentle, friendly temperament of its Three-lined ancestor but is even gentler and quieter, less active, and loves to sleep.
