Recipe: Steamed Chicken Breast for Cats
📝 Summary
Steamed chicken breast appeals to cats more than boiled — richer aroma. Steam over ~3 cm water on a rack for ~10 minutes, cool, and shred along the grain. A tasty supplement for cats over one month.
1 Ingredients
Main ingredient: chicken breast. No supplements needed. Suitable for cats over one month old.
2 Steaming Steps
Step 1 — Add water: not too much, about 3 cm over the pot bottom. Step 2 — Place a steam rack; it isn’t required (a ceramic bowl works too) as long as water won’t submerge the meat, but a rack is more efficient and keeps the meat from stewing in condensation.
Step 3 — Add the breast (directly on the rack, or on a plate on the rack). Step 4 — Steam: steaming is faster than boiling, so a normal piece is done in about ten minutes. Step 5 — Shred along the grain once cooled; kittens get a finer shred, adults a coarser one.
3 Serving
Step 6 — Serve. Cats prefer steamed over boiled chicken — you can smell the stronger aroma yourself. As with boiled breast, this is a supplement, not a sole staple diet.
