This could be simple rest after a tiring outing, or a freeze response from daytime stress and fright, since some hamsters freeze easily. Check for a heartbeat and feel the limbs for coldness and stiffness to rule out false hibernation.
Offer a small treat by the mouth to see if there is a reaction; if it wakes up, it is fine. Keep the room comfortably warm with extra bedding and cotton. If warming it in your hand brings no response, watch closely and take it to a vet.
