Crusting on a dog’s nose and eye area is usually mite parasites, possibly with bacterial infection causing pyoderma and heavy scabs. Have a vet do a skin scrape and treat accordingly.

Mite infection brings patchy hair loss, itching, redness, gray scales and thickened skin, which can spread over the body. If demodex is suspected, treat promptly, deworm externally and keep the environment dry and clean to avoid sepsis.
