Labrador: slight rhythmic twitching of front limbs during sleep, also involving the head; touching the head shows something being pushed up. During the day it nods rhythmically when sitting or standing, more noticeable when calm. Appetite and energy normal, no fever/vomit/diarrhea. Suspect ear infection; cleaning the left ear at night got a strong reaction. Symptoms only clear on video.

If a dog only twitches mildly during sleep, it may be from dreaming or external stimuli. In light sleep dogs dream and may twitch from the dream content, and feeling cold while sleeping can also cause twitching, which is normal; just keep it warm.

Since the dog’s appetite and energy are normal with no other symptoms, these causes are most likely. If twitching becomes frequent, consider disease and take the dog to a veterinary clinic for diagnosis.
