Neutering is sensitive in Chinese cultural tradition; mention pet neutering and many oppose, talking about not depriving rights, this is harm, abusing pets, etc. I just want to ask: those ‘unintended’ babies born from your ‘reluctance’ and ‘carelessness’ — are they living well now? How many survive?

Troubles of not neutering dogs

Fighting:

Male dogs, under territory instinct and male hormones, fight and bite other dogs and get hurt. Don’t tell me you can hold them — small dogs maybe, but try a big dog in a frenzy?

Marking, scent:

Male dogs in heat mark everywhere, easily pee in the house, smell grows large; female dogs come into heat twice a year, not only messy but the summer smell is something else!

Running away:

City pets are better; small-town pets are semi-free-range, and in heat male dogs easily run off to seek pleasure, then various accidents cause the dog to never return.

They’re unhappy:

Once sexual impulse arises, male or female in heat suffers if not mated.

Unexpected joy:

Many call dog pregnancy ‘careless’, but how will you handle these surprises? Most would give away or sell; only a few take responsibility and pay. After giving away, the dog’s life is none of my business — is that your so-called ‘right’?

After neutering, female dogs generally show no big change; male dogs, due to reduced male hormones, become gentler, quieter, and you bid farewell to annoying scent troubles. As for unexpected surprises, we can do without! And neutering reduces the chance of reproductive organ disease — why not?

Neutering a dog or cat doesn’t cost much, likely less than your dog having puppies — generally 500-3000. Those who talk big about rights: did you get the dog license? Vaccines? Regular deworming?

Timing of neutering:

Generally best before the dog is 1 year old; if it has been in heat, even after neutering it may still do some awkward moves.

In closing:

Since it’s already a pet, it has long drifted from so-called nature and instinct; then where does your ‘right’ come from?

Not neutering yet not letting it mate — is that not suffering? It’s just imposing your will on others; of course the choice is still yours.
